ACEP’S Clinical Ultrasound Accreditation Program (CUAP)
Raj Geria and Mike Mallin presented a summary of ACEP's new Clinical Ultrasound Accreditation Program (CUAP). Jerry Chiricolo and Vivek Tayal provided some background on accreditation and other specialties' approaches and alternatives.
We had a great discussion about how EM ultrasound is different from traditional imaging practices and how the CUAP can meet our specific needs. This was followed by an interactive question and answer session where fellows and faculty had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with our panel. Pros and cons and implications of accreditation were discussed, and we had plenty of insightful questions as usual. We also reviewed an interesting case submitted by Eike Flach. Congratulations to Sam Ayala at New York Methodist for correctly identifying emphysematous cholecystitis. Thanks to our panel and participants for another great meeting.
